Frances Hesselbein Visits Old Friends With the Girl Scouts

On Tuesday, August 9, Frances Hesselbein visited her old home at the New York City headquarters for the Girl Scouts of the USA . During her 14-year tenure as President and CEO of the Girl Scouts Frances served as the catalyst for huge growth among the troops, tripling their minority membership and refocusing cross-organizational leadership.

A detailed account of her experiences fills her recent autobiography My Life in Leadership: The Journey and Lessons Learned Along the Way , which was the topic of Tuesday’s event. In an intimate discussion group, Frances reflected on her book and her life with Marshall Goldsmith, leadership expert and author. GSUSA staff continues to embody Frances’ personal leadership style today and were happy to welcome Frances back into their ranks. Each attendee of the event received a copy of My Life in Leadership and her best advice: “keep the faith is the most powerful message you can carry and travel with”.
