On-going education is a consistently important part of an effective leader’s development. While Leader to Leader print and video resources are a great everyday supplement to development, a more intensive and focused training can be beneficial too. In partnership with The American Management Association , Leader to Leader Institute offers a scholarship program for leaders of nonprofit organizations, covering the full cost of an AMA class. AMA holds a variety of business-oriented classes in cities all around the country; training in skills including: Building Better Work Relationships; Time Management; Assertiveness Training; Effective Executive Speaking; Management Skills for New Supervisors; Fundamentals of Finance and Accounting; and How to Write a Killer Marketing Plan. The value of these classes is recognized at all levels of business, but the cost can sometimes be prohibitive to social sector leaders on limited budgets.
The Leader to Leader - AMA Scholarship is designed to provide nonprofit leaders with an opportunity to step out of the day-to-day, interact with peers across the sectors and develop practical skills they can apply immediately within their organizations. To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria : be an employee of a nonprofit (501(c)(3)) organization, have at least three years of experience in the social sector, receive nomination for the scholarship from a direct supervisor, and complete the scholarship application . Applicants can apply once annually and are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity for on-going leadership development.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and will be accepted through December 15, 2011.
